Canadian singer and songwriter Latoya Jane recently completed the Jamaican leg of her promotional trek for her newest track, ' Be In Like'.

Her visit was a significant move to come to the roots of dancehall and reggae music.

The track is about love and navigating through the rocky terrain of it all; so instead, she tells her significant other that it is better if they are 'in like' instead of being in love.

"This song is very dear to me because for a while it was my story. Love is a tricky thing, so it is better if we focus on the liking part sometimes, that is less complicated," she smiled.

With the overwhelming feedback thus far from fans and DJs, it can definitely be said that the song has been well received in Jamaica and Toronto, where she is based.

"I've been getting mad love from my fans, both in Jamaica and Canada, and I am elated about that. I want my music to be far-reaching, and I want it to resonate well with my fans and at the same time, I want to build new fans," she said.

The accompanying music video has been doing extremely well, racking up quite a number of views on YouTube and has created a huge impression on her social media pages.

Born to Jamaican parents, the singer was brought up in the gritty Jane and Finch area of Canada.

"Growing up in a rough neighbourhood had its toll on me. I got in a bit of trouble, and I was even incarcerated," she said.

Despite the setback of being incarcerated, the songstress has since changed her life, and has actively been giving back to her community.

She has also become involved in quite a few outreach programmes in Jamaica and Canada.
