Shawn Storm pleased with ‘war’ songs
When his mentor, Vybz Kartel, found himself the target of some subliminal disses from various entertainers within the dancehall realm, incarcerated deejay Shaw Storm felt it was only fitting he get involved in the lyrical exchanges. Although the 'war' has died down a bit, the deejay is celebrating success from the two tracks he released during the brief 'battle phase'.
The entertainer who spearheads his own label, Kwashana Records, sent comments to THE STAR via producer Still Yet. He revealed satisfaction at the impact made by both tracks - Blud Bath and Crusader. Blud Bath debuted on the top 20 list on YouTube's local trending list before making its way into the coveted top 10. It peaked at number six. Crusader also made it to the top 20 list on the chart.
Still Yet told THE STAR that Shawn Storm expressed that the success of both tracks proves that although not as formidable as it once was, the Gaza Camp is still very much capable of holding its own in a lyrical confrontation.
"We nah try war wid no artistes because a Billboard and other international charts we a pree. But, if some man feel like it's a walkover and they can do as they feel like ... then we have to discipline them," he said. "And, as you can see, from we talk, no dog nuh bark, so clearly that shows that once again the Gaza reign supreme."
Now that things have cooled down on the 'war scene', Still Yet says the incarcerated deejay has shifted focus once more to zoning in on bigger things. He says the deejay still has a lot stashed away in his musical vault that he's hoping to release in short order.
"There is a time and place for everything, and now that we have proven that we are no walkover, we want to continue making good music for the people, so it's back to business as usual for us now," he said. "The deejay has a lot in store and the label is looking forward to releasing all the new projects as soon as possible."
