Haile Selassie hunt last second round spot
Haile Selassie High are on the hunt for the final spot in the ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup when they face Pembroke Hall in Group A today at Haile Selassie High, starting at 3 p.m.
The home side must win in order to move closer to a best third- place spot.
With Wolmer's winning the group on 25 points, ahead of Tivoli (21) as automatic qualifiers, third-place Haile Selassie, on 14 points, need to win their two remaining games to cement a second-round spot.
Should Haile Selassie win those games, they will edge out Eltham, who are on 19 points in Group G for a third-place spot. The team's coach, Perry Bartley, is well aware that his team is in a must-win situation.
"It is a very important game is a crucial one that we need to win to go through to the second round," Bartley told STAR Sports yesterday.
Haile Selassie key players include striker Tyrice Bloomfield, midfielder Taj Carlas, and central defender Chase Knight for victory.
Pembroke Hall are out of contention for a second-round spot.
In another game, St George's College will face Denham Town at Tivoli High in the last Group D game. St Catherine lead the group on 23 points, ahead of St St George's (22). A win for St George's would see them top the group.
Both St Catherine and St George's have qualified for the second round.
