The year 2019 will end with Dunbeholden's Dean Andre Thomas on top of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) goalscoring chart.

The 24-year-old striker scored a brace in Sunday's 3-2 win over Molynes United at the Constant Spring playing field to increase his tally to 12, a career high so far for the forward who has been targeting reaching the 20 goal mark as the page is turned to 2020.

The result was the club's fifth away win of the season and they have the third best away record in the league so far.

Thomas says that his performances have just business as usual, helping the team forward.

"I come here every day to perform and will my team to the top," Thomas told STAR Sports. "I'm not too excited but one thing I am excited about [was] the performance, how we just come out and work hard for each other. It's a joy."

Thomas believes that the hard work put in has resulted in greater exposure for him to showcase his abilities with Jamaica now seeing what he can do and is grateful to the club for giving him the opportunity to shine

"The individual work that I have put in, it is paying off and it is showing Jamaica that I can do great things and Dunbeholden can put me out there to the world and people see me," he said.

"I just want to give thanks to the management and the coaching staff for believing in me every day and for my teammates.

Molynes had no answer to close down the strike as he opened proceedings in the 9th minute and doubled the lead in the 29th minute after Molynes equalised through Jeremy Nelson's penalty four minutes prior. After Nelson levelled the match again four minutes into the second half, Thomas's teammate Andre McFarlane scored the winner in the 51st minute for his fourth goal of the season.

Portmore United's Corey Burke is one goal below Thomas in the golden boot race with 11 and Waterhouse's Colorado Murray is in third place with nine.

Thomas believes that he has a further 15 goals left to score this season which would bring his total to 27, three away from Roen Nelson's single season record of 30 goals set in the 2002/03 season. Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson was the last person to score 20 goals in the league in the 2012/13.

Thomas has laid down the gauntlet to his challenges intending to push further head of the pack.

"If I don't reach 27, I can settle for 20 because it's a long time since somebody hasn't scored 20 goals in the league. As you can see, I am setting the pace. I'm making everybody chase or try to keep up," he said.
