National senior women's football team coach Hubert Busby Jr says Khadija Shaw is one of the best strikers in the world after her debut season for Bordeaux in France.

He says her performances there have attracted serious interest from other clubs in acquiring her services.

Shaw's first year for Bordeaux in the Division One Feminine was interrupted as play was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, but still managed to score 10 goals so far, helping the team to third place in the league, four points away from a UEFA Women's Champions League place.

"I had this conversation with a big sporting director from a big club in Europe last week, and I said she's arguably one of the top five strikers in the world," Busby told STAR Sports. "And it's one of the reasons why this sporting director from a big club was calling me about her."

The 23-year-old signed a two-year deal with Bordeaux last summer before the FIFA Women's World Cup and has started all but one of the 15 games she has played so far. She is the second-highest goal scorer on the team, two goals shy of Viviane Asseyi, who has 12 for the season. Shaw last featured for Bordeaux in February, scoring in her side's 4-0 win over Soyaux before the league was suspended.

Although there is uncertainty of when, or i,f the league will resume this season, Busby believes that she has made a good enough impression that could lead to a better opportunity in the future.

"I think she's had a great season," he said. "She's attracted the interest of a lot of clubs because they see the value in her. Her potential to be the best in the world is there. I truly believe that, because she has all the attributes that are needed to be there."

Shaw was named in the Top 100 Best Women's Footballers in the world, according to English newspaper The Guardian, for the year 2017 and is the country's all-time leading goalscorer for both men and women with 40 goals.
