National junior 100-metre record holder Alana Reid has returned to the island and is now training with her former high school coach Corey Bennett.

STAR Sports has been reliably informed that Olympian Reid, who holds the national junior record of 10.92 seconds, has been training at the Ashenheim Stadium, Jamaica College. Bennett currently serves as the sprint and hurdles coach at JC.

Bennett, the head coach at Hydel High, had huge success with 20 year-old Reid in the past as he was responsible for guiding her to the national junior record at the 2023 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Championships.

Efforts to get a comment from Bennett proved futile, as several calls to his mobile phone went unanswered. Meanwhile, Reid's agent, Dwight 'Bigga' Thomas, declined to comment on the matter.

Reid signed a multi-year contract with Nike shortly after turning a professional in 2023. Shortly after becoming a Nike athlete Reid moved to Florida to join Dennis Mitchell's Star Athletics Club. Star Athletics featured a number of top American female sprinters including World 100m champion Sha'Carri Richardson (2023) and 2025 World 100 and 200m champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden.

Reid, however, shifted her base to the Hurdles Mechanics Group in early 2025 where she joined up with fellow Jamaicans, sprint hurdler Ackera Nugent and 400m runner Nickisha Pryce.

The talented sprinter, who made Jamaica's team to the Paris Olympic Games last year, was a member of the women's 4x100-metre relay squad that finished fifth in the final. However, she later rebounded in style, winning the World Under-20 100m title and helping Jamaica to capture gold in the 4x100m relay at the championships in Lima, Peru.
