St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) clinched a berth in the ISSA daCosta Cup quarterfinals and ended Ocho Rios High's hopes with a 3-0 victory in the round of 16 at the Drax Hall Sports Complex in St Ann yesterday.

STETHS, the Zone 2 winners, will be joined in the quarterfinals by Kemps Hill High, who defeated Old Harbour High 5-0. STETHS are on nine points, with Kemps Hill on six.

In front of an energetic crowd, STETHS' Kaieem Lewis scored in the fourth and 27th minutes to give his team a 2-0 lead before half-time. In the 54th minute, STETHS' Deandre Barrett powered one home to complete the scoring.

According to Omar 'Rambo' Wedderburn, coach of STETHS, his team executed the plan well.

"Today we came here and had a game plan. Ocho Rios have one way to play and we nullified it," said Wedderburn.

As for Lewis, the team's leading goalscorer, the team's execution lead to a dominant win.

"We really worked hard, came relaxed and we were set on getting three points. Everyone had a specific role to play and they all played well today. My objective is to score the most goals this season," said Lewis.

Meanwhile, Iyan Keane, manager of Ocho Rios, was proud of his team although they failed to score.

"I am proud of our boys and I think they represented us well and we are one of the better teams in the competition,' Keane said

"It is indeed a sad day for us as the boys did not deliver as expected. We had a good game but if you don't score, you will not win," added Keane.

Ocho Rios, who finished on three points, will join Old Harbour in the Ben Francis Knockout tournament.
