SATURDAY's fall of widely used bankers in back-to-back races, SIR DON and JORDON REIGN'S, followed by ASCEND closing the Reggae 6 at odds of 7-1, sent bettors reeling, resulting in a payout of $1m plus change.

Anthony Nunes' PRODIGIOUS POWER, partnered by sparingly used Delroy Beharie, ended stablemate SIR DON's win streak, coming from behind to land the Dye Job Sprint by a nose despite Raddesh Roman's drifting antics aboard the 1-9 favourite.

Carl Anderson saddled two Reggae 6 winners, SECRET SENSATION and GREAT WAYNE, races three and five out the five-straight chute at odds of 5-2 and 9-1, respectively.

GREAT WAYNE surprisingly made all with Jemar Jackson, beating down-in-class but suspect JORDON REIGN'S at the seven-year-old foreigner's pet trip.

New Year's Day's Reggae 6 opener, the McKay Security Sprint Trophy is a $1m minefield at three and a half furlongs, an event at which the kitchen sink and all cutlery should be thrown.

Use six speedsters drawn on the faster stands' side, SIR GANGA JAMUNA, PIP, STORM VALLEY, NUTTIN BUT TROUBLE, NINA DORADA and TIMETOSAYGOODBYE with bustling Roger Hewitt, who has a knack of winning at long odds.

Treat the second and third events similarly but with four selections apiece. FURTHER AND BEYOND has tumbled down the claiming ladder but faces fit runners such as EAZY PEAZY, WHISKY and SONNY T AND CHIPPY in the second at seven furlongs.

PAPI USO appears tempting in the third after an impressive maiden win last Thursday, Boxing Day. However, he is up in class facing the likes of foreigner THOUSAND TREASURE, who closed for third behind GENERATIONAL and REJECTED RAJA at five furlongs straight in a strong $800,000 claiming race out the straight last Thursday.

SLAM SHARP and MIDNIGHT RUNNER have shown in recent races that they prefer a mild pace, which could suit them at six and a half furlongs against up-in-class PAPI USO.

After navigating the first three events, the path should be cleared to roll out bankers for a shot at the New Year's Day Reggae 6, which opens with a single-winner bonus of $1.7m.

MISS GROVE, IRISH WISH and FIRST OFFENSE are all worthy bankers. MISS GROVE will break from near mid-track in race four, which only has seven runners out the five-straight chute.

IRISH WISH, however, will break from post-position one but can use superior speed to overcome that poor draw out the straight in race five.

FIRST OFFENSE, claimed for $1m on Boxing Day, returns for half the price in the sixth after disputing the lead and finishing a close fifth behind GENERATIONAL, REJECTED RAJA and THOUSAND TREASURE.
