WI Women’s batting needs to improve – Joseph

ST GEORGE'S, Grenada:

West Indies Women's opener Qiana Joseph has called for a better batting performance from the team ahead of their final T20I against Sri Lanka Women on Wednesday.

The home side has failed to fire in the batting department so far in the series and find themselves trailing 1-0 after losing by four wickets in the second game of the three-match series on Sunday.

In the first match, which ended in a no-result at the National Cricket Stadium, West Indies Women were routed for a paltry 49 in 13.3 overs, their second lowest total in T20s. And in the second match, they could only muster 101 in their 20 overs, with captain Hayley Matthews' 28 being the top score.

Having lost the preceding ODI series 2-1, Joseph said she had no doubt that once the batters played to their potential the West Indies would emerge victorious.

"I think that our batters should just step up and come to the table, score some runs and then we will win the game.

"We have a lot of batting ability; each and every one can bat, and I think that once we step up as batters we can win the game on Wednesday," Joseph said.
