Tarick Ximines ... opened the scoring for Portmore United against Waterhouse yesterday.

Second-half goals from Clive Wedderburn and Christopher Matthews carried Dunbeholden to a 2-0 win over Cavalier Soccer Club in their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) football match at Sabina Park on Thursday, for the St Catherine club to score back-to-back wins in the league.

Following their 1-0 win over Molynes on Sunday, the Bjorn Thomas-coached team followed that up with another important win, this time against the defending champions.

The result pushed ninth-place Dunbeholden to 38 points, four points outside the playoff spots.

After a scoreless first half, the St Catherine club broke the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining in the match, thanks to Wedderburn's strike.

They would add another for good measure in the last minute of the game when Matthews struck to seal the win.

SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS

The defeat was the second straight for Cavalier, under the guidance of Marcel Gayle, who is manning the ship in the absence of Reggae Boyz head coach Rudolph Speid.

Cavalier stayed sixth in the table on 42 points, one ahead of Chapelton Maroons, and three in front of Arnett Gardens (39).

At Ferdi Park, Portmore United rebounded from their 4-1 drubbing by Mount Pleasant Football Academy to score a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Waterhouse.

The home team took the lead after only three minutes through the impressive Tarick Ximines.

That lead did not last long as national Under-20 player Jamone Lyle levelled the score for Waterhouse after 17 minutes.

Portmore would eventually take all of three points, thanks to veteran striker Cory Burke, who netted in the 61st minute, to score his second goal from as many matches.

Portmore stayed fourth in the table on 51 points, one less than Mount Pleasant, and two adrift of second-place Racing United, and seven behind league leaders Montego Bay United.

Waterhouse also remained as they were, in fifth place on 46 points.

At STETHS Sports Complex, home team Treasure Beach and Arnett Gardens played out a 0-0 draw.

Treasure Beach stayed 11th on 30 points, two more than Harbour View in 10th and four points clear of Molynes United in the relegation zone.
