Charly Black wants listeners to have ‘good times’
Dancehall superstar Charly Black is "adding the sauce" to music while imploring everyone to always seek their own happiness, through his new album titled Good Times.
"I was just paying attention to what's going on all over the world especially over in Gaza and Palestine, Russia and even same place here in Jamaica, wid all these mass murdering, and seh I just wanna make something happy, fun as usual, but get more into details and depth with it. Suh in trying to keep it fun, I seh 'good times' - because that's also what [I] bring to dancehall - good times," the Trelawny native explained to THE STAR.
"Mi waah everybody fi have a good time again, both in dancehall and just their overall life. Place a get too vile and is like we don't know how to have fun again. Suh I need you all to go vibe to it suh you can have a good time," urged Charly Black.
Known for his 'party animal' concepts, Charly Black said this musical compilation brings the same level of joy but with more "maturity and diverse messages".
"The message is really simple because within yourself, you have to ensure you know how to have a good time. But then you need the music as it's like the sauce of life, like di gravy. You already have your good life but the music that I present to you is like the gravy to your existence - we can't live without music because music is the staff of life," he opined. He encouraged persons to "be happy with yourself first", because that's where true happiness comes from.
The artiste said Good Times further helped him to realise his musical growth, as the topics are very diverse.
"It's not like an old 2007 Charly Black ... it's more advanced. Suh by listening to this album, yuh gonna have a good time overall from start to finish because this is the more mature Charly," he said.
The album, which was released on August 29, features a mix of seductive selections such as Like Glu featuring Denyque, street banging anthems like Badda D an Me as well as Nu mero Uno and Mamacita, which he said was his way of paying homage to the Latin and Spanish community that has supported his career for years. The 13-track compilation, the artiste's third studio album, also features top producers such as Dave Kelly, Don Corleon, European producer DJ Chuckie, and collaborative singles with stars such as Dexta Daps, Valiant, Colombian artiste Andres Couper, and Afrobeat superstar, LAX. Good Times has been moving up the charts on Songstats in countries such as Singapore, Uruguay, Angola and Nicaragua.
