Family offers reward for info on relative’s murder
Determined to get justice for their slain loved one, the family members of Titisi Banney is offering a US$10,000 (approximately $1.5 million) reward for information leading to the arrest and charge of those responsible for her death.
However, it has been four days since the family laid the offer on the table, but a relative said they are yet to receive any calls or tips.
"To be honest, we haven't got any calls at all. I think information is there but persons are afraid to say anything ... they are fearful for their life. We are keeping our fingers crossed and just still asking anyone with information to contact the police or us. We want to see those responsible for her death brought to justice," she said.
The remains of 39-year-old Banney were found in a ditch wrapped in a sheet last Wednesday in Grants Pen Heights, St Thomas. Banney, who was affectionately called 'Munchy', was reported missing last Monday after she failed to return to her Bull Bay, St Andrew home on Sunday following a trip to Yallahs, St Thomas.
Today marks nine days since her family laid eyes on her, and a relative said they remain in shock.
"We are still trying to process and comes to terms with her death. We thought she was a missing person, but only to find her murdered. It is very hard for everyone," she said.
Another relative told THE STAR that Banney died without accomplishing one of her major goals in life. She stated that the deceased woman yearned to become a mother with her long-time partner.
"She really wanted to have a baby, and I know she was trying hard. She was really just a good person. Her partner is broken and traumatised right now. Him all get mawga. Him nah eat, and him a say a from Sunday him nuh eat him dinner. People cruel," the relative said.
