A point enough for U20 Reggae Boyz
The Under-20 Reggae Boyz will enter today's decisive fixture in the Concacaf Men's U20 Qualifiers against Puerto Rico knowing that a point will be enough for them to book their spot in the Concacaf Men's U20 Championship.
The Group B decider at the Stadion Rignaal 'Jean' Francisca in Curacao will kick at 7 p.m. Jamaica time.
Both teams will be putting their perfect record on the line after recording four wins each throughout their group stage campaign.
Jamaica, however, hold the advantage on goal difference, scoring 27 goals to Puerto Rico's 12.
The young Boyz kicked off their campaign with s 3-0 win over Bonaire, before downing the Turks and Caicos Islands 7-0. They continued with a 9-0 win over the Cayman Islands before dispatching St Kitts and Nevis 8-0 on Saturday.
Should the U20 Boyz avoid defeat, they will book their spot in the U20 Championships, joining the six pre-seeded teams from the region.
The U20 Championship will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Men's U20 World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
GOALSCORERS
Jamaica will once again look towards their prolific attacking line with Jahmarie Nolan leading the way as the team's top goalscorer with five goals.
Nolan, however, is not the only attacker in form as Arnett Gardens' Giovanni Taylor and Raequan Campbell-Dennis have both struck four goals each.
Defender Marlon van de Wetering has also been a key figure in Jamaica's performances, not only as a stalwart figure at the back, but has tallied three assists in four games.
OTHER FIXTURES
In the other Group B fixtures, the Cayman Islands will take on Bonaire, while St Kitts and Nevis will face Turks and Caicos Islands.
These games will determine the final standings as St Kitts and Bonaire are both level on four points. Turks and Caicos sit fifth on three points, while Cayman are rooted at the foot of the table without a point.
