The Musson Foundation recently presented a new cohort of students with scholarship awards at the NuPak Scholarship Awards Ceremony.

This second cohort of 13 students joins the returning cohort, bringing the total number of scholarships awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year to 20. Scholars are required to maintain strong academic performance each year to continue in the programme.

"Brains are built, not born. With the right challenges, feedback and practice, potential grows," said Melanie Subratie, chair of the Musson Foundation, referencing the event theme, Rise, Reach, Repeat. "We invest not just to reward talent, but to grow it."

Keynote speaker Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small, educator, media personality and motivational speaker, urged students to know their why and live with purpose. Her talk, "Empowered, Confident and Purpose-Driven," highlighted practical life lessons, including: keep learning and keep laughing, don't feel smaller because you're younger, honour your parents' sacrifices, don't give up and stand out.

Linking the theme to real-world outcomes across the Musson Group, Musson Jamaica's Chief People Officer, Teresa Martinez-Donaldson, noted that Rise, Reach, Repeat mirrors how capability is built on the job - through meaningful assignments, timely coaching, and deliberate practice - across factories, plants, warehouses, and offices.

"Through the NuPak scholarship, we're investing in our children so they not only thrive academically, but also drive change in their communities," said Lisa D'Oyen, executive director of the Musson Foundation. "The programme complements our flagship initiatives - Girls in ICT Day, Read Across Jamaica Day, and Hour of Code - which open doors to technology, literacy, and problem-solving while instilling the disciplined practice that turns effort into excellence."
